"These guidelines address the current issue of ensuring the fire safety of parking garages in construction objects for charging electric and plug-in hybrid cars.

In connection with the development of the e-mobility market, electromobility issues are the subject of discussion, cooperation and undertakings of various industries and expert communities. The guidelines handed to you are the result of the cooperation of specialists in various disciplines and specialties, representing: Scientific and Research Center for Fire Protection – National Research Institute (CNBOP-PIB), Headquarters of the State Fire Service (KG PSP) and the Polish New Mobility Association (PSNM). At the same time, it should be emphasized that PSNM integrates leading brands from across the e-mobility value chain, including the community of vehicle and infrastructure manufacturers, operators and charging service providers, fuel and energy companies, and all other entities and institutions active in the field of sustainable transportation. This publication was created in response to an important current and probably in the near future market need to define fire protection conditions for garages in buildings where electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles are charged.

The guidelines have been developed using the indicated formal bases, documents, but above all the referenced results of research conducted in various countries. CNBOP-PIB also performed its own studies, which are the basis for the formulated conclusions, recommendations and requirements for fire protection. The guidelines in question in individual chapters include, respectively: the basic, most important definitions, abbreviations and symbols, formal bases, related documents and key research results, a set of requirements and recommendations for the products used, the design, execution and operation of electrical installations, the characteristics of places in building facilities for charging electric and plug-in hybrid cars. The publication focuses primarily on the identification of risks to fire safety and the identification of key factors to ensure it, including the conditions for rescue and firefighting operations".
